Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA)
La Casa de Esperanza´s VITA Program offers free tax help for low to moderate-income taxpayers who cannot prepare their own tax returns. It is a volunteer-based program. Volunteers are certified by IRS and receive free training (sponsored by various organizations) to prepare basic tax returns in communities across the country.

VITA Program Seeking Volunteers
La Casa de Esperanza is recruiting new volunteers to join us for the 2010 tax season. La Casa de Esperanza´s VITA Program assists seniors and low- to moderate-income families file their Federal and State Income taxes at no cost to them, open bank accounts, and access important information on community services to strengthen the entire family.
By making a 14 week commitment, you have the opportunity to help Waukesha County families save money on tax preparation and increase their income through tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Homestead Credit.
Previous experience is not required. Free training will be provided to all volunteers.
Volunteer at three convenient locations in Waukesha County:
- La Casa de Esperanza in Waukesha
- Oconomowoc Public Library in Oconomowoc
- Waukesha County Technical College in Pewaukee
We are currently recruiting for the following volunteer positions:

Tax Preparers: Volunteer tax preparers prepare Federal and State Tax returns using IRS computer software and electronically file returns for clients. Computer proficiency required.
Intake Screeners: Intake Screeners assist taxpayers to fill out intake forms and make sure that the taxpayer has all the necessary information with them to have their taxes completed.
Interpreters: Assist greeters and tax clients better serve clients by providing oral interpretation assistance. We are seeking interpreters proficient in Spanish. Specialized financial vocabulary is not required.
