Asset Building coach – WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
BASIC FUNCTIONS: La Casa de Esperanza’s Asset Building programs provide free tax assistance, financial and employment/career development coaching, and asset building opportunities to low- to moderate-income residents of the Waukesha area. The Asset Building/Financial Coach provides financial and employment coaching to VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program and Financial Stability Initiative clients and facilitates financial literacy and employment/career development workshops.
REPORTS TO: Director, Workforce Development & Financial Stability
FLSA: Nonexempt
HOURS: Full and Part Time Positions
Monday – Friday. Some evening and Saturday hours may be required.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Connects clients to asset building opportunities
- Connects clients to support services through La Casa and external agencies/organizations
- Provides financial coaching and case management covering –
- Budgeting
- Debt reduction
- Credit management and building
- Saving programs
- Earned Income Tax Credit & Other Tax Credits
- Retirement planning basics
- Basic tax planning
- Provides employment and career development coaching and case management
- Facilitates 1 on 1 financial enrichment sessions with VITA clients.
- Implements Asset Building promotions and outreach
- Facilitates financial literacy workshops
- Prepares taxes at the Basic level.
- Collects data and prepares reports are required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Social Work, HR, or other relevant coursework.
- Financial Coaching certification, CFP, or comparable education preferred.
- 1-2 year’s experience in financial coaching.
- 1 year experience in employment/career development coaching.
- 1 year experience in workshop facilitation or training presentations preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete IRS tax preparation certification at the Basic level.
- Experience working with low-income individuals/families dealing with multiple barriers to financial self-sufficiency.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment. Previous experience working with Latino community a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: word processing, spreadsheets, and internet.
- Available to work evenings and Saturdays during tax season.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
