EHS Family Specialist

 

Early Head Start Family Specialist

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Recruit children/families and pregnant women for home-based and canter-based Early Head Start Services.
  2. Sustain recruitment plan and track recruitment documentation.
  3. Process application, assign new cases, terminate cases as well as manage the waiting list.
  4. Conduct initial screening/application for families to determine eligibility for services.
  5. Act as coordinator for each content area for home-based and center-based children and families, by helping with coordinating meetings.
  6. Maintain accurate updated case files.
  7. Compile reports and statistical data as required or as requested by supervisor.
  8. Asses family needs. Develop strategies to address identified needs through programs, services and other resources at La Casa and in the community. Provide information to families through weekly communication in the red folders used in the classrooms.
  9. Identify home-based and site-based services to address strengths, interests and needs of families. Establish mutual goals and plans for achieving desired outcomes.
  10. Develop family partnership agreement with each family on caseload.
  11. Conduct home visits in accordance with La Casa policies and EHS performance standards (more frequently if needed).
  12. Maintain communication with EHS staff, parents and community organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 1-3 years professional experience in service coordination, counseling, early childhood education or childhood development.
  2. Shall be at least 18 years of age.
  3. Bachelors degree in early childhood education, psychology, or related field.
  4. Diplomacy and human relations skills.
  5. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  6. Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn about services for pregnant women, infants, toddlers and their families.
  7. Must be reliable and flexible to meet the needs of the program.
  8. Ability to work as a team member.
  9. Ability to work effectively with diverse families.
  10. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  12. Experience with Early Head Start highly preferred.
