English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher

BASIC FUNCTIONS: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic ESL Teacher to join our team and help non-native English speakers improve their language skills. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Executive Principal, The English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher demonstrates enthusiasm, energy, and a passion for teaching within every aspect of the position. The ELL Teacher will be responsible for creating a learning environment that provides high quality instruction for students while utilizing the charter school approved curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices to support our ELL population of students. This position will collaborate with staff and parents to foster a positive team environment that will enrich each student’s learning and potential. The ELL Teacher will work with families and students of diverse backgrounds and will hold a firm commitment that every child is provided with the opportunity to learn.
Job Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Plan and deliver effective ELL lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students, focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Curriculum Development: Design and adapt lesson plans and teaching materials to align with students' proficiency levels and learning goals.
- Assessment: Evaluate and assess students’ progress through regular tests, quizzes, and informal assessments. Provide constructive feedback and set achievable goals.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment. Manage student behavior effectively and address any issues that arise.
- Student Support: Offer additional support to students as needed, including one-on-one tutoring or small group instruction.
- Communication: Engage with students, parents, and colleagues to discuss student progress, address concerns, and foster a collaborative learning environment.
- Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in ELL teaching, attend professional development workshops, and incorporate new strategies into teaching.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and grades. Prepare and submit reports as required
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Principal or CEO

- Demonstrate the ability to follow and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrate excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- All other duties as assigned by Executive Principal or CGO
- Fulfills professional obligations by complying with timelines, attending meetings, in-service, professional and parent conferences, as well as participating in special events of the school and the agency.
Education Requirements:
- Valid Wisconsin DPI Teaching License, English as a Second Language
Desired Characteristics:
- Previous classroom ELL teaching experience, but not necessary
- Focused on delivering high quality, standards aligned instruction.
- Driven to form meaningful, engaging relationships with staff, students and families.
- Collaborative by nature.
- Present a positive, student-centered approach to the teaching and learning process.
- Enthusiastic and optimistic regarding moving each learner forward.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
