Grant Writer
TITLE: GRANT WRITER
BASIC FUNCTIONS: Responsible for researching funding sources, including foundations, government agencies, corporations, and individuals; develop and write public and private grant proposals; track grant submissions, prepare reports and perform general grants management responsibilities; and assist as appropriate with other general funding development strategies.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify, research, and seek public and private funding resources available to the organization.
- Interpret funding guidelines and RFPs to determine if appropriate for organization.
- Collaborate with staff members to identify potential funding for programs/projects and develop budgets, timelines, goals, objectives, outcomes and evaluation criteria for grants.
- Write and submit general support and specific proposals in cooperation with program staff.
- Monitor and track proposal submissions and grant awards and report progress.
- Maintain records, files, reports and resource materials (both database and paper files).
- Ensure overall quality and accuracy of all proposals and grant documents.
- Assist in reporting (with program staff) as appropriate. Review/Monitor reports produced by program staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned for the advancement of La Casa de Esperanza, Inc.
- As appropriate or requested, communicate with corporate and foundation representatives to develop and maintain working relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of bachelor’s degree from accredited college of university in such areas of communications, English, journalism, or a related field, or 3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong writing and editing skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals specific to grantors and with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of and experience with the grant application process and writing of applications.
- Proficiency with various computer applications (Microsoft Office) programs and experience with database management.
- Knowledge of online and offline research techniques.
- Strong organizational skills, including planning and time management.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Ability to develop plans and timelines and follow through to completion.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a timely, efficient manner.
- Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate a variety of data.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Ability to monitor and meet income goals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. To effectively communicate with staff, donors and grantors in order to disseminate and request information.
- Work in nonprofit sector desirable.
