Assistant VITA Site Coordinator – WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
BASIC FUNCTIONS: The Assistant VITA Site Coordinator position is focused on promoting the financial stability of low- to moderate-income families through tax preparation services. The Assistant Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day VITA Site operations, including: site management, tax preparation and quality review; volunteer recruiting, training, and supervision; program marketing and outreach, and other duties as appropriate.

FLSA: Hourly
HOURS: Full Time
Seasonal Position with Potential for Permanent Hire
Some Evening and Saturday Hours Required
SALARY: $15 – $18 per hour commensurate with Qualifications
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit and train volunteer tax preparer and intake screeners.
- Ensure all IRS and regulations and guidelines are adhered to.
- Ensure all IRS Quality Review requirements are completed for all tax returns prepared.
- Provide troubleshooting and other assistance for the TaxSlayer software program.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork among volunteers and staff that allows for appreciation of diversity and working effectively together to enable each employee and the Initiative to succeed.
- Consciously create a workplace culture consistent with the Center’s mission and values.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending training and webinars and reading professional publications.
- Ensure quality of services provided to clients through: evaluation and improvement of client service process, policies, and systems and effective management of client experience.
- Manage program activities to ensure program goals are met.
- Conduct participant intakes to determine financial stability strengths and barriers, help set financial goals, and develop individualized participant plan to achieve short-term.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Social Work, HR preferred. Associate’s Degree or other relevant coursework accepted.
- VITA Site or Tax Office experience preferred.
- Must successfully complete IRS Tax Certification. Training is provided.
- Experience working with low-income individuals/families dealing with multiple barriers to self-sufficiency.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment. Previous experience working with Latino community a plus.
- Proficient in MicroSoft Office: word processing, spreadsheets, and internet.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
